i really think that having a red car and a lead foot are a bad combo. i always get pulled out of traffic for speeding when i go the same speed as everyone else. its bullshit and needs to end.

it's true...i saw somewhere that yellow and red cars get pulled over more often than other cars.

makes sense too...red and yellow always stick out (at least to me they do)

well the yellow should get pulled over just for being yellow...but yeah i have a white 95 240sx and havent gotten pulled over once and i always speed in that, yet when i drive my moms red 03' rolla i go like maybe 10 over and get a ticket (both of the speeding tickets were for 10 over so far)i just think it sucks, red is my favorite color but i cant have my car red or ill be seeing blue in the mirror.

Hey whats wrong with gold lol. Anyway colors are'nt the only thing that makes a car more likely to get tickets. If you have a wing, bodykit, hood you can expect to be pulled over more.

damn dude, you need to get laid, i was just making a general comment on how i get pulled over in a stock red rolla more than a modded white 240sx. chill out, if you think my post is lame then dont read it. its that simple.

one thing you gotta face is more people speed, oh well, it's just that it's natural that bright colors stick out more. nothing you can do really.

Actually, researchers at the Institute for Advanced Research recently found that red paint actually does make a car go faster. Something about photon frequencies and combustion quanta.

they dont ask the color of your car when you get insurance. Its all a bunch of BS.

Well maybe where you live, in Indiana, the insurance companies dont care as much, but I kno here in NJ our family's black 325i cost less on insurance than what we traded it in for, a red 325ci. Mightve been the color, mightve been the convertible-age, who knows.

I'm pretty sure it was the convertible and the age if they were different.

Here, I just found this from The Business Journal...

"For example, 11 percent of survey respondents said they had avoided purchasing a red or yellow car to save on insurance, when, in fact, color has no bearing," Thacker said. "

i guess if you think about it, it really wouldnt make any sense to charge a person more for insurance if their car was red. I mean, it's not increasing the risk factor for a client to the insurance company if the outside of the car (which you can't see while driving anyway) is red. It doesn't really increase your chance of getting into an accident in any way, or have a psychologocial effect as maybe some people think.

IF nothing else the insurance company would give you a discount... knowing you are more likely to be given a ticket.... therefore they can raise your rates..

Yellow and Red cars get pulled over more cause they stick out when u do something wrong and because generally red and yellow cars look more sportier then others.

kcap122
08-05-2004, 07:25 AM
the real purpose is that they want to know the color of your car in case you try to mate your engine compartment with a tree, then they would like to know the color of the car for identification purposes, i.e. so you dont cheat them and smash a crappy car in its place.

thats what a vin number is for

pimprolla112
09-05-2004, 06:35 PM
insurance companies dont ask for the color of your car because the vin number gives them the infromation. y do you think a 5 slow mustang cost more for insurance than a v6. no matter what you do to your car they go by the vin, so any mods dont get to the insurance company. insurance companies do charge more for red cars but its not a huge difference, and yeah my friend in his red prelude has had over 9 tickets in 3 months i got one in like 8 months but i got alot of warnings, so its not all bs.

I've never gotten a ticket in my White Volvo 760 Turbo Wagon :D. Its not slow...I get it to 90 no problem, and wander up to 100+ every here and there.

I however have a strategy. I call it the "Ferrari Rule". Its real easy: Never go (exceedingly) fast in area you don't know and/or never go faster than the "sportier" car. Chances are when I follow the Ferrari 360 at 120mph, a cop will pull over the Ferrari sooner then he'll pull over my Volvo Wagon.

HighRev87
09-10-2004, 09:31 PM
You'd be suprised. Some cops will hit the ferrari in jealousy or to see the car, but most dont mess with the Big Money cars, at least thats what I noticed
