Unhappy 95 JGC A/C Problem

I am having trouble with my AC blowing warm air inside. The pressure line does get cold (freezing), but the return line does not get cold at all. The blower works fine as do all the vents. Is there something clogged in there? Appreciate the help.

Question

hi there:

Which pressure line gets cold? Are you referring to the lines going to the front of you GC? Does the A/C compressor continually cycle off and on in short duration? Is your vehicle equipped with a manual a/c control unit or the digital Automatic Temp Control? You might be low on refrigerant. Im guessing since its a 1995, your should have R-134A in it.

RJ,
Here are the answers to your questions. The line I'm referring to is the one that runs from the front of the vehicle and along the top left of the engine compartment (has a release valve) right over the coolant reservoir. The A/C compressor does continually cycle on and off for approx 15-20 seconds, and it has a manual A/C control unit. I took it to the dealer about a month ago, and they told me that it was over-serviced, so they let some refrigerant out, and they added dye. Could it be a clog in the line filter?

Thanks for your help.

Hi there, I could possibly mean your AC system might have a blockage of some sort either in the evap unit or in the expansion valve...if thats the case be ready to shell out some $$$.

Re: 95 JGC A/C Problem

hi there again, just another quick thought , if the dealer was more thorough they would have put some gauges on and determined if there was excessive PSI on one side of the system, a BIG clue theres a blockage somewhere in the system, and would have offered some (but expensive) remedies and clearly explained whats wrong.
Additionally your compressor may be going bad, and is sending debris into the system possbly (or is now) causing the blockage.
