03 gtp low whistle noise? is this normal?kooloperator 06-20-2004, 10:52 PM Just bought a brand new 03 gtp leftover. love it, but there is a low pitch whistle/hum that I hear when I step on the gas.I am not sure if this is a normal noise for a gtp? Sounds like it is coming from the super charger?? It almost sounds like a honda civic going in reverse but not as loud. Should i bring it in for service or is this normal. Thanks GTPCatz 06-20-2004, 11:25 PM Im sure it is normal...The Supercharger does whistle a little....just wait until you put on a cold air intake then that thing will be whistleing loud! It takes some getting use to.....but once you go blown you never go back! s_jo4 06-21-2004, 09:26 AM i agree with catz but gps are infamous for their wind noise at 60+ mph GTPgirl 06-21-2004, 08:31 PM Oh yes...my dad thought my 99 had unusually loud wind noise, then I told him my '97 did the same thing. I think part of it is the design of the sideveiw mirrors. kooloperator 06-22-2004, 10:02 AM i agree with catz but gps are infamous for their wind noise at 60+ mph Hey, my car makes this noise even when the car is not moving. Not when it is ideling but only when i step on the gas! Its just the typical "supercharger whine" nothing to be worried about at all. It will become music to your ears  s_jo4 06-23-2004, 01:22 PM anybody with those mirror covers still get the same noise as without them? i've been thinking about buying some of those to see if it deadens the noise some and if it does then i was going to fill the holes with bondo, smooth it out, and paint it to match the vehicle. guess i could also just put tape over the holes and drive down the highway to see if it makes a difference. if it does then i'll hit a junkyard for new mirrors and fill those ones. carnutcass 06-23-2004, 04:39 PM I wonder if kool is talking about a whirring noise that noise that is common on GM mid and fulll sized cars. Seems to come from the transaxle. My Bonneville made it, as did my moms Bonneville, and my neighbor's Olds 88. My '02 GTP makes this sound very faintly, but present none the less. IH8RICE 06-23-2004, 06:54 PM id definalty agree with that my car screams when i punch it but i have the older GTP mines a 95 3.4 DOHC and it makes the same sound either that or its the 4 cams im my car GTPgirl 06-24-2004, 07:36 PM Hmm...I recently had a wheel bearing replaced on the driver side because of a whirring noise in my '99...but I still hear the noise. That might be it...although this noise is worse when I turn left and disappears entirely when I turn right...either that, or I may need a wheel bearing on the passenger side.
