f350 dual axle brake drumharry_hermit 06-20-2004, 03:21 PM How do you take off the rear brake drum off a dually? ModMech 06-20-2004, 07:25 PM What year? harry_hermit 06-20-2004, 07:29 PM 1988,sorry for not including that. ModMech 06-21-2004, 11:48 AM In '86 as I recall Ford switched from inboard to outboard mounted drums. ALL the '88 and newer Frod trucks (E&F) have outboard mounted drums. So, with the brakes released, and some penetrating oil around the hub center, they should come off rather easily. If they are rusted, beat the H$LL outta them and they will either break or come loose. New drums are not that much money, certainly less than a days worth of fideling is worth. There are TWO different drum widths, 3" and 3.5" as I recall, be sure to get the correct ones if you are replacing them (shoes too!). harry_hermit 06-21-2004, 02:05 PM Thanks ModMech, that helps a lot.I'm going to buy a Chilton book later tonight. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
