A while back I read here on Forum a suggestion by someone about installing NGK Irridium spark plugs ($6.50 each, found at: NGK.com) and Borg-Warner High resistance wireset ($157, found at Carparts.com).
Well, my 95 Aurora had been misfiring for over a year and installing AC-Delco wiresets ($90-110) and plugs($6.50/each) did not fix the misfire but temporarily reduced it.
So I tried NGK Irridium Plugs, My first impression was WOW, car runs smooth and my gas/ mileage that during past 5 years always stayed between (16-21/city-highway) instantly jumped up to incredible (for a 4500 pound car, including me, my scooter and lift in the back) rate of (24-28/city-highway)!!!!! I never thought a simple set of plugs can make somuch difference. :naughty:
So now I'm dumping the near-new AC-Delco wireset and ordering Borg-warner wireset.
You should try that too if your RPM arrow moves even a hair at idle! because it shouldn't.
By the way, I've had my Aurora for 5 years and other than recent misfire (hate the coil-pack idea of GM)I've had absolutely no problem. car has smooth ride, all electric, good CD player and looks good. But if I had to do it again, I'd go for toyota Solara instead. I just hate to pay $75 for a little plastic wheel center-cap or $180 for GM dealer scanning in northern CA. :grinno:

The whole workup from Actron, much less ebay, to buy a scan tool (cp9110) for your 95 is about the price of one of those scans at your dealer. That's just plain wrong that anyone gets away with charging $180.

I can't imagine anyone paying $75 for a centre cap either - I got two of them from ebay for less than $35 - including shipping.
I think you should look for a new Olds dealer . . .
