Need some help with roommates Stanza

I don't know anything about Nissans, but my roommate who owns one doesn't know anything about cars at all.

He has an '89 Stanza, one of those 4-wheel drive things, and it won't start. He drove it to work, but left the lights on so the battery went dead.

I went to jumpstart it for him, but it won't fire. It cranks over just fine and it's getting spark from BOTH coil wires, but it won't start so I'm guessing that maybe it's a lack of fuel.

Here's what's really confusing me; the lights won't come on at all. The turns signals and brake lights work, but the head and taillights don't. What could be causing that?? (yes I checked all the fuses).

As far as a lack of fuel, in my car I would guess that maybe the ECU is having some sort of trouble, but I don't even know where it is in this car, much less how to check it.

Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Need some help with roommates Stanza

I have a 92 Stanza and had a problem similar to this on a year or so ago. Not sure if it is the same, and the headlight/tail-lights are a little confusing, but almost sounds like the there is no fuel and maybe the pump has died. The headlight problem is beyond me though, but did you check the fuses under the hood? Just another thought from me

there are no 4wd stock stanzas
I have a 91 stanza and recently started having start up problems. First thought it was the battery so went and got a new one. It was ok for one start then wouldn't start anymore. I had a new starter so it wasn't that; I also check the selenoid (spelling?). I took it into the shop to get looked at and they couldn't find a damn thing wrong with their computers.
I wheeled it over to a heavy duty mechanic and it took about 10 minutes for him to test the relays under the hood (there should be four just to the left of the battery) One is the fuel pump. If you have your key in the accessory position you should be able to unclip the fuel pump relay and apple pressure down to it; if the fuel pump is working the relay will click as electricity is going through it.
Another thing to test is where the fuel comes into the engine compartment; just to the left of the power steering assembly. There is a small cylinder - just take off the hose that continues into the engine bay from this thing and turn they key. On mine no fuel came out.

As far as the lights go I have no idea. I never checked the lights on my car during this time.
