Passanger door rides low hits the pin

I have a 2 door tahoe with 160,000 miles. The driver side door need to be adjust up about 1/4 inch to close. The door now strikes the pin. Now I must lightly slam the door to close it. The pin has some ware on the top and the striker plate has some ware on the top as it hits the pin. The door hinges are tight and in great shape. There is no slop in the door movement. How do the body shop adjust the door up. With the door closed the body lines, line up. With the door open they do not. Thanks Dave davedschneider@hotmail.com

Re: Passanger door rides low hits the pin

I had that problem years ago on an ole pickup. Friend at a body shop had a neat little gizzmo that had a v shape nose that fit around the pin and some type of pin that fit into the stricker plate [dont quite remember exactly what it looked like]. All that was done after lining them up, was just prying up on the door. After that, I "never" had another problem with the door rubbing.

I replaced a door pin myself. I bought the pins from advanced auto form the HELP section. BUT. You will need a "door spring tensioner" and some tools. Make sure you have all the tools necessary before starting because you may not be able to get it back on without the proper stuff. I bought a haynes manual and it was helpful. Also, make sure you get the right pins, not the ones they may tell you, compare them to the ones that are on before buying them.

The door pin and bushing has been replaced and are tight. But when I have my son lift the door the hinge to door has movement between the two of them. I think the top part of the hinge has a broken spot weld. All the hinge are welded on the door and not bolted. Is their a 1/4 plate on the inside of the door or is the hinge sported by the door skin? Should the hinge be re-spot weld or stick welded? If there is a plate maybe I should bolt it and not weld it. I think the wind caught the door and forced the door open and put pressure on the hinge and door.
