where are the fusible links on a 1972 chevy 1 ton van with a 350 4 barrel ?
i am having a starting problem. it cranks fine and when it cranks there is power to the ignition coil (both the positive and the negative side) but if i take off the wire to the distributer and ground to metal and try to start there is no spark to ground.
the coil is new, the cap, rotor and points are new. there is no spark at the plug.
someone said that it could be the ignition switch. does anyone have any ideas ?

ok lets start from the begining there is a wire that comes from the starter to the coil so when you crank it will provide volts to the coil ...this is good according to your post . the wire coming from the coil to the distributor is actully going to the points... when the point open (no ground) the magnetic field in the coil colapses and this is what produces the spark... sounds like the points are not making and breaking.............one more thing remove the distrbutor cap and crank the engine...see if the rotor turns if not its a timing chain
