my friend just recently bought a 93 mx3. she brought it over to my house and i looked at it and drove it. when i first drove we took it out to a straight a way and then i gave it hell. the throttle response sucked so i bought a aftermarket one and put on there, I then proceeded to take the fuel rail and fuel injectors of and cleaned them and then put them back on because they were all ready aftermarket parts. I also slapped a new fuel pump and fuel lines on it and it is dong the same thing.

So what could it be cause i only know domestic cars. :banghead:
and i`m going :screwy: over this.

have you ever driving another MX3 before to base the "shitty throttle response" on? You have to remember that MX3s are cool little sport'Y' cars... not necessarily sports cars right out of the box. It takes some modding before the car actually gets respectable results.

is the idle normal? I would try the spark plugs/wires, also check your intake and throttle body to make sure everythign is free-flowing and clear of any oil/grease buildups.

i put new plugs and wires on it when she brought it over. I didn`t think about checking the the throttle body. intake is fine and the idle is stock as far as i put on and adrusted it to where the other one was.

my guess would be a bad tps (throttle position sensor) adjustement...voltage shouldn't be in the specs...or check if your throttle cable is stuck somewhere...
but I am really leaning towards the tps...
You know how to check it?..

ok first to do this you need a voltmeter...
the tps is located on the throttle body on the left side (looking from the front of the engine)..You have 2 screws holding it in place..You can rotate the tps but don't touch it yet..
Take that voltmeter and ground it somewhere in the engine bay...
The tps connector should be a 4 wire connector..
Turn your car on accesories
Check the voltage of the second wire from the top and tell me what are you reading..
then manually open the throttle body wide open throttle and check the reading again...
Then come back here and give me your 2 voltage (one would be at idle and the other at WOT)..
I'll tell you if your in specs

On a side-note, i tried mine too and at closed throttle I had .6 which falls within the 0.1-1.1 range, but at WOT the voltage didnt change :screwy: I dont know what i was doing wrong. Plus there was a $#%^@ thing in the way to get the botttom screw off the TPS. Ill try it again another day cuz I have to be doing something wrong.

I also undid all of my vaccums and re-put them on and the stupid idle was still fvcked. :banghead: aaarrgggg Im going to bed, stupid car. Hey steve I gotta get u to show me how to check the voltage on that thing cuz I must be a retard, or the damn thing is fvcked.

no problem I'll help you out...
btw spec at idle should be between .5 and 1 and WOT should between 3.5 and 4
