Question V6 4.3L:want faster!

i have a 2000 Silverado V6 4.3L and i want it to go faster. i know its not supposed to be fast truck since its a V6, but i plan on getting a K&N cold air intake and some kind of exhaust (not sure what kind yet). What else can i do to my engine or exhaust or just the truck in general to make it go faster??

Re: V6 4.3L:want faster!

here's what I did to mine. I have an 03 shortbed reg cab with the 4.3

1st off was a hypertech programmer.
I didn't notice much in the way of performance but the fact you can raise the factory redline is a huge plus.
2nd thing I did was to get the engine breathing better I had a flowmaster 40 series single in dual out put on. This seemed to hurt my lowend but the high end greatly improved.

3rd thing was K&N fipk this brought my low end back out of the gutter and also helped the highend.

4th thing I need to do is is get the underdrive pulley set.

All of this stuff is fairly reasonable as far as price goes, I way overpaid for my exhaust but I was picky about the way it was bent.

Other than that I'm waiting for someone to make a supercharger or turbo charger for our full sizes.

After all the mods I have done I wouldn't say its a high performance machine but it sounds good and does have more pep than it did when fully stock.

Good luck

John

Check out their site, there are lots of adjustments you can make to your factory BCM.

You have no idea how many times I thought about a V6 to V8 swap for my 92 silv. The LB4 was such a dog compared to the LU4

Re: V6 4.3L:want faster!

/\ Thats what my 03 came with stock. I guess I never noticed working parts at a Chevy dealer that the 99-03 does not go to 120? How high does it go? I do know that the 03 and up will not work in the 99-02 one of my friends tried it in his 02 silverado. He wanted to put the SS gage cluster in I can get them for 185.00 but now after seeing the Joe Gibbs cluster up close I wouldn't mind getting that one instead. Be nice to go from 15k back to 0 miles.
