When you bypass the throttle body, all you are doing is keeping cooler air going into the throttle body, I don't believe this increases mileage and it has been an ongoing argument if it increased performance or not. Every body has their opinion on this...alot of guys with the F-body (firebird, camaro> do this to keep cooler air flowing when using a ram air scoop. I have never heard or attempted to filter out the crankcase, not saying its so or possible, but definate warranty voider....Now I have heard of tapping the rear-end and installing a breather to keep diff fluid cool and happy....but not crankcase. Alot of people install valve covers with dual breather stems and then place small K&N filters that way but most of those motors are of the non EFI version.
