Timing Belt Broke 93 1.8 did i Kill it??

My 1.8 GT stopped running while doing about 60mph. Stopped suddenly and showed 0 rpm. (Manual

Transmission) I took it out of gear and costed off the freeway. I got a tow from a friend with a

rope and while he was towing me I tryed a few times to "Push" start it while doing aprox 30mph (I

thought it was ignition (coil?) problem because of no spark). For other peoples benefit I will

describe the symptom...
From the Coil there was No spark, Volt meter to the power hookup of coil shows aprox 12 volt, motor

turns over.
Computer code shows Camshaft position sensor (no signal). (easy to check) Replaced entire

distributor since that part is supposidly not replacable, New distributor is doing same, cleared

error codes, but it returns.
I discoverd that my Distributor is not turning (knew right away timing belt problem) Why the manual

didn't say camshaft position sensor/timing belt I dont know ..
Anyway, My question is after cranking the motor for a good block (about 3200rpm) with no timing belt,

on this motor what are the chances I killed the valves? and other things?
Also, the belt seems very difficult to replace, about how long would that take in a shop, and then

the valve job also?
since the cams are over head doesnt that make the valve job easier?

Thanks alot!!

Question valve job?

I have a 98 Escort and busted my timing belt at 45mph coming off an on ramp. Upon fixing the T.B. they said I messed up a cylinder and possibly need a valve job. Have You found someplace to do your valves, and possibly what where the average prices given toyou to fix your valves?

Re: Timing Belt Broke 93 1.8 did i Kill it??

I have not found a place to do the valves yet, I asked a dealer and they said that I should just buy a head from a junk yard and use that because it could get very expensive with a dual overhead cam.

The belt is estimated between $250 and $375 (part included at about $80)
