To buy or not to buy?

I've been looking for a 4 wheel drive vehicle, something that can pull the motorcycles and the utility trailer...

My sebring convertible is what I have been using... but that's not really what it's made for. : )

I kinda had my heart set on a late model wrangler, but this just kinda fell into my lap...

99 LT, black with leather (leather color unknown atm)
TV VCR LCD (I'm assuming it's dropping from the ceiling)

circo? roof rack
high lift jack and action shovel mount

MTR tires and rims (2 months old) - look like they are probably 33's
warn winch (9500 lb w/remote) built into a road armor front brush guard
piaa? front lights

6' pro comp lift
rancho torsion bars w/rear anti sways

456 gearing rear diff
alba? limited slip diff

K&N air filter
chipped (not sure of specs)

Now, I know nothing about these vehicles... but I'm only interested in something I can work on myself. If I have to pull the engine out to change spark plugs, I'm not interested : )

The previous owner was a pharmaceutical sales person for the north east part of the country, so most of the miles are highway... but the miles are really high (150k). The previous owner is available to talk to, I just haven't spoken to him yet (want to get a little better idea of what I'm talking about : )

asking 15k, I'm sure I get it a little lower.

So... thoughts? the mpg alone is enough to kill me, but this sounded like something worth looking into.

Re: To buy or not to buy?

I went and looked at it this evening, but didn't test drive it...

the interior is perfect - it's grey leather, looks very nice (not exactly what I want my dog to be climbing all over!)

the brush guard up front is huge! it's also a little rusted, and the rear taillight guards are a little rusted too... but I could take all of those off an clean them up, then throw them back on with some black paint.

it has at least 8 extra lights in assorted places... I'm not sure what this guy was using it for : ) It has an axe and a shovel strapped to the roof : )

Don't know what area you are in but sounds like the guy was a desert rat type. Winch, axe, shovel all can be used to help dig out of a stuck situation, (or to bury the bodies if you are a serial killer LOL), Bigger vehicle like this will make trailering anything a much more enjoyable experience. Wheelbase length is directly attributable to how much sway transference the trailer will have on the tow vehicle. Leather will stand up fine to the dogs use, I throw a blanket down on the seats for our Dobie. Also check if rear seats don't fold down, that a blanket and a water bowl and the dog is good to go. My experience is to go a little larger for the tow vehicle than you or the dealers say you need as it will be less wear and tear on the tow vehicle over time.

It'll beat the hell out of owning a Wrangler!
