Is there a seal that should be replaced when replacing the clutch? The reason I'm asking is the clutch went on with great force and if there is no seal there, I would rather not take it back off.

You need the correct tools to remove and replace the clutch assembly. You also need a special tool to remve the shaft seal from the compressor. If you have been using force on the compressor shaft you may well have damaged the shaft seal. The compressor shaft seal should always be replaced when the compressor is removed, more so if the bearing has worn.

Thanks for the info. I did have tools for removal/install of clutch. I did not know about the shaft seal needing to be replaced with clutch rplcmnt.
Anyways, the tranny crapped again (2nd time) so I donated this pos to Salvation army.
