Question Beretta GTZ '91 3.1 ltr. "gremlins"

The vehicle died suddenly on the way home, after killing the battery trying to start it, I towed it to the house bought a new battery and cranked on it several times, the car started then promptly died.it did this several times then it started ran for 10 minutes and died again, Again it went through the same ritual of start ,die, start, die, start, die, start , run for 10 - 15 minutes die again. I have replaced the fuel pump, the battery, the crank sensor, new wires and plugs, installed a TSP today...same results, I have no service light, lit ,I even replaced all the seals on the fuel rail and the injectors, the noid light says they work, I have spark firing at the coil...I now cant get it to run, just start then die, does anyone know the timing for this engine? I know the Comp controls it but maybe the belt stretched or something, All I have left that I can think of is the pressure regulator, or maybe the oil sender I don't recall if this model is wired to it or not. If any of you "bow tie"guys have any suggestions I'd appreciate any info. Thanks..

i have an idea. on the side of the air intake there is a black plastic piece held on by two star bit screws. unscrew it and there is a pieace that looks like a bullet tip with a spring under it. this controls the fuel air mixture. measure from the bottom of the spring to the bottom of the bullet tip. it should be exactly 1/8th of an inch if it is of just a little it will not mix the fuel and air right and it wont run very long. what ever you do do not clean of the tip, even if it is black. trust me on the i did it and it took a long time for my car to run again. i had to keep tryin until it got dirty again well give my idea a try and let me know. i will try to think of some other things for ya to try.

If things weren't bad enough...I thought the problem may have been fixed...The vehicle ran, started ran well, I drove it for about 4 miles, AND IT DIED! after almost killing the battery it started and ran long enough to get it home.(pouring rain I might add) I then restarted it and as soon as I accelerated it died. now it starts dies, starts backfires and dies(a new thing it didn't back fire before)I will look at it again in the am. I am wet...oh I forgot my manners thanks for responding.

Might be a fuel Injector shorting out. If one shorts out it will shut down the rest of them. If you can get to them I would unplug one at a time untill you found the problem one.

Actually, that sounds like the alternator.

And you dont get any SES codes while this is goin on? Hmm, check your alternator, thats a good suggestion. Get a voltmeter and hook it up to the batter with the car running. You should get between 13.5 - 14v. If its lower than 13v your alternator is shot.
