hello everyone
I pulled a 302 out of my 1989 f-150 and replaced it with factory rebuilt 1997 302. I had to change firing order and fuel injector firing order to get it to run. I also changed fuel pump relay and tps, the problem is some of the air mgmt did not get re-installed and now if you get the truck to start and shut down it will not start again and there is a strong smell of gas. I am not a great mechanic but feel I've done my best and I am open to any and all suggestions or help. Sometimes it sounds like timing is off , spark plugs have fire but when taken out they are soaked in gas.

ok. ford did not make the 302 in 97. The last year of the 302 was 96. Make sure you do not have a 5.4 or something.

THIS ENGINE MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT IN 1996 BUT IT WAS FOR A 1997 EXPLORER
