Well, my 1990 Camry brake light, battery light, and rear light indicators are all on at the same time? What does this mean? I was driving and stopped for gas and when I went to restart my car it would not start I need a jump. I am lost can anyone help me?

The battery sure sounds like a logical place to start. Does the gas station have a tester? Can they get you started, or toss a new battery in for you to confirm/deny whether that's the problem? Good luck...

I had a battery that the strangest problem. It would randomly be COMPLETELY dead for no apparent reason. Then it got to the point that my battery light would come on while the car was running and the lights would be dim (until engine was revved over 3000rpm). I was sure my alternator was blown until I noticed that my battery was bulging at the sides and leaking a bit. I replaced the battery and it's been fine for 5 months now. Anyone else have their battery suck all the power out of the alternator like that?

As for your problem, it looks like it may be the alternator going bad. It could also be a failing power connector from the alternator to the battery, preventing the battery from being recharged. I'd still try a different battery to see if you were having the odd problem I had.

I had this problem on an old 86 Camry. I would have your alternator checked before doing anything else. If you have a digital volt/ohmeter you can do this yourself. Jump start the car. Then with the car running set the DVM on 20 volts DC and touch the 2 probes to the posts on top of the battery. If the alternator is working, you should see a reading of around 14 or more volts. If it is 12 volts or less, then your alternator is bad. Replacing an alternator is an easy do-it-yourself fix. A rebuilt should run around $100.
