Big Dreams
OK. So i'm only 15, but i've been dreaming like mad about cars, and i'm getting pretty seriouse . I've narrowed down my disision of a car to an mx-3. I found one in quebec for 2000 (amazing i know) but i think its too good to be true. http://www.canadatrader.com/trader/r...id=&ste=&task=
I've also narrowed down my first mod to the car, egine swapping it to a KL-ZE. Are my dreams out of porportion, or are they totatly possible? If anybody could give me any feed back that would be asome

Re: Big Dreams
They are possible. 2000 for a car is really good. I got mine for 1800usd. The KLZE is definitely a good choice, as well as a relatively affordable one. It'll boost your hp by 65 hp, and gives you a better platform for other mods.
as far as that car being too good to be true, I tried the link, but I don't know which one you're looking at. 2000 for a MX3 is pretty good
Is is V6 or 4cyl.

Ok, well i'm planning on getting a V6 so i can enjoy the car some before i put the engine in. I've found an egine for 1150$ canadian at http://www.jspecautosports.com/jas/html/mazda.html. Around how much would it cost me to have it installed, and for extra parts i would need?

Re: Big Dreams
A basic KLZE swap will put you out around 2500$ for parts, engine, and installation. Depending on how much u pay for an install, some people will do it for around 500-700$. A clutch for the 2.5L is around 400$, and you may as well change the timing belt, water pump if needed, spark plugs, ignition wires etc.. what area are you in? my msn is gr8ride4u@hotmail.com if u want any answers

Re: Big Dreams
I dont know for sure, but from what I see, the 1.8 clutch and the 2.5 clutch are different. Plus, maybe its me but a K8 stock clutch would turn to mush with 200hp or more running through it.

Re: Big Dreams
ok, well if you could email me a list of parts that i would most defantly need for a well used mx-3, (after a swap) that would be good. I'm planning on getting a performance clutch, spark plugs and ignition wires anyway. Thanks for the help, and keep it comming. I'm in saskatoon, so if your around the area and your planning a swap, give me some info on were your getting the swap done, and were your getting your parts from.

Re: Big Dreams
Im from the Ottawa area so we're kinda far away :P this is my shopping list for my swap if it helps.
KLZE
Clutch Centerforce Dual Friction
Tranny from a Probe GT
ECU KL-31, KL-36 - 400$
Vaf JE50 (this is the on you have on your K8 right now, so keep it)
Clutch bearing
Oil filter
Spark plugs
motor oil
Transmission oil
coolant
timing belt
**Not necessary, but a good idea none-the-less**
Brembo front cross drilled, and slotted rotors
KYB GR-2 Shocks
Eibach Springs
Fuel-pressure regulator
Air/fual ratio guage
lightweight pullies
headers? maybe if I can find some true "bolt-on" ones.
I mightve forgotten a few things but i think its all there.

Re: Big Dreams
depends on the part, but most likely mx6 or probe when it comes to the engine. The clutch bearing goes for around 60-70$ i think. I got mine from www.street-import.com
