my 1999 blazer doesn't seem to want to shift when driving. but when you let off the gas a little it will go into gear. also it gets real loud like there is some sort of vaccum problem. at 60,000 miles i had the transmission fluid change and the garage broke off and replaced some sort of sensor at the bottom of the transmission. i now have 75,000 and i am starting to get problems. any idea whats up. also no warning lights are on.

how long since the fuel filter has been replaced?

i don't think ever, what would that have to do with it shifting?

the computers in these vehicles can be a little weird, the filter should be changed anyway. If the filter doesn't help any, pull the battery cable off for 5-10 minutes and then try it out

replace the fuel filter. The computer controls the tranny on that vehicle. It could possibly be a throttle position sensor or something else, but a fuel filter is cheap and should be changed at least once a year.

i changed the fuel filter and unhooked the battery for about ten min. it does have more power and isn't being so sluggish now but it still bucks at about thirty mph. could the pvc valve be doing this?

Is it the engine bogging down or is the truck just not responding? I don't think the fuel filter will help at all. It sounds like you have a transmission problem to me.

actually the fuel filter did help some i think enough to eliminate the transmission(for now). it just bucks a bit around thirty mile per hour after that it's ok.

When your starving for fuel, or engine power for that matter. You have your foot depressed futher into the excellerator pedal to get your normal power. Hence, the computer system "thinks" the vehicle is under excessive load. Like pulling a trailer or something. So it shifts later and firmer.

The solenoid that was replaced at your last service was a shift solenoid. The tech didn't losen and raise the tranny off the crossmember far enough. So when the tech was removeing the pan(forcefully) He/She broke a shift solenoid. (Very common) These (the plastic shift solenoid)get brittle after many heating/cooling cycles. Just a little too much force pulling the pan and...Well, there ya go. Broken solenoid.

With the bucking...I would say your ready for a "real" tune-up. Not just plugs. Hopefully that will end it.

the solenoid they broke they did replace hopefully it isn't that again. what all do mean for a real tune-up. i'm going to the garage on friday what do you recommend i ask for?

Actually, you should ask them to diagnose your complaint.

Real tune-up= Spark plugs, spark plug wires, pcv, fuel filter, air filter, cap and rotor.

Then, there are cheap parts and good parts, on top of 3 hrs labor.

ok i took and had it put on the machine at firestone. they came back with nothing is wrong and i have a transmission problem. so i went to aamco to check the tranny they said the transmission is fine your catalitic converter is shot: so off to mizer i go they say yes the converter is bad but your O2 sensors are bad too. also he said that for some reason the engine is putting out air thats way to hot and is burning up the cat converter. anyway thats where i sit right now
