1999 Trans problemsfootinjeff 06-04-2004, 09:50 AM I have read a few threads regarding shifting problems but I am still a little confused on what need to be done. My car has problems, not all the time, shifting at lower speeds. It will jump into gear and revving high in the lower gear. It seems fine once on the highway. I also noticed that when I just drive in Drive, not over drive, it seems to be better. Thanks in advance! c_hayhurst 06-09-2004, 10:54 AM Say it ain't so! I just got a 99 Taurus SE with 50k on it and the transmission HAS been acting a little strange. :icon16: Then again, I am a hypochondirac when it comes to my cars. Oh well, at least its paid for. YEA! footinjeff 06-09-2004, 01:04 PM Can someone please give us some advise? Is there a sensor on the trans causing this, maybe the VSS? Will this get detected on a scanner? jimh123 06-29-2004, 09:33 AM My 98 Ford taurus has the same problem has any one seen this and no what part to replace Thanks for your help footinjeff 06-29-2004, 09:54 AM I ended up taking it to a Ford dealer because I was only 3000 miles past my ESP. I only had to pay 10% ($140) to have them replace parts within the trans. It took them almost 2 weeks but it seems to be OK now. metalhedskater 07-07-2004, 02:40 AM i have a 92 gls, and i just recently have had problems with my car, and it turns out that a lot of cars after 92 have had problems with there trans slowing going out on them. only after 92 because it's when they switched to the electronic trans. i've heard through the grape vine that once the trans goes, it's a good thing, because you can have the trans rebuilt, and it'll never happen again. which is what i'm doing now to my 92 mint gls. metalhedskater 07-07-2004, 02:42 AM how many miles do u guys have on your cars? mr_tw 07-09-2004, 08:22 PM weell we had a 1997 Taurus and it suffered the sdame problemsd for a little while then after awhile of neglect it lost OD (wouldent go into 4th) and then we got the tranny pulled out of the car and fixed, then it failed the road test, got pulled agin, fixed.... then a few months later we lost 2nd, under the tranny warranty that we got after they fixed the tranny the first time we got it fixed for free, and now with the warranty up you can't use the gas in 2nd gear without it grinding and you have to watch hom much gas you give it in the freward gears for the same rason, and it's also slipping, in short a bad tranny, just hope your cars aren't going the same route Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
