Transmission Jerk

My 1995 Jetta III 2.0 L "auto" Jerks into gear between 45-50 mph. At 45 the rpm gets pretty high after I reach 50mph it finally jerks into gear and the rpm drops' to what it should be. I have checked the tranny fluid and have also had it changed. Oh I also should mention all of this started after I had my very dirty tranny fluid changed. This only happened from 45 to 50 mph up hill or down.

What should I do ??

TIA

Re: Transmission Jerk

Was the shop that replaced the fluid familiar with VW's? You could have the 01M transmission which takes special fluid, not the everyday Dexron ATF.

Re: Transmission Jerk

I had a 94 jetta and it would behave like this on hills, the trans is probably going, around 40 the rpms would rev to like 6000 then it would downshift (on hills), then return to normal on flat land, finally it just did that all the time and I sold it.

Re: Transmission Jerk

You mentioned very dirty fluid...how long had it been in there? Tranny fluid on auto trannies, if left in too long, can build up alot of gunk and wear away at the 'gears' inside. When flushed it can actually do more bad than good if it has been in there TOO long.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.
