I got a 94 honda civic. The rear passenger side tailight ,The one connected to the quarter panel, is fogging up.. I sealed it but it still won't stay clear like the other 3 pieces. Any one know a solution??? Thanks

I some Altezza taillights on my Civic and one of them fogged, I tried resealing it but it kept fogging up again, I had to buy a new one.

I am gonna fill it up with water and see where the leak is. That happened to my clear corners too but the water trick didn't work for those so I may just have to buy a new one.. I'll just put it on my tab at the local aftermarket parts shop...

I checked mine for leaks and I could not find any. It seems like once they get fogged up, it is hard to keep em from doing it again.

I was being sarcastic when I said apc was a good brand .. Those were the first mods I made to my car.. If I knew then what I know now about good aftermarket brand names I wouldn't be talkin about a fogged up tailight.....

for my taillights i had to drill holes in the bottoms to keep them from filling up with water. They dont get fogged up anymore either.

I thought a hole in the sealed tailight is why it fogs up in the first place..

Tail lights fog because water is trapped... but if you give it a place to escape (like a hole at the bottom) it will got thru that hole.....

I think :screwy:

I filled the light up with water, found the leak, sealed it and now it's clear again. If I woulda listened to some people on here I would have spent $200 on a whole new set instead of .50 cents on a tube of sealer that fixed the problem... My tailights are phat no matter what brand they are.. Some of us just don't have the money to go name brand all the time....Thanks anyway for all your comments...

First of all, I for one never said by a new set...why...most of the time...they all leak, regardless of brand...second, APC products are crap...not just tailights...all APC...Crap....period...end of story. ANyone who tells you different is lying their ass off or doesn't know a darn thing about cars.

Third, sealing your tailights is always a good idea, as they all tend to leak like crazy striaght outta the box, which is why you seal they. This also helps when you buy aftermarket headlights like projecotrs, which can leak and fog up too, as well as corner lights too. If you buy aftermarket lights, sealing up the whole light should be the first thing you do.

Now the reason I said "most brands"? Supposedly, TYC guarenteees all their lights are leak proof, and if they leak you are suppose to be able to return them and exchange them for a new pair.

For the most part though, with the expection of maybe TYC, brand name doesn't matter...Matrix, Racitv, Toucan, Eurolight, APC, Gen 3, etc...they are all the same crap, and they all leak. Just look at the writing on the bottom of the lights...they are say sonar and the same numbers, and a lot of the time they come from the same factory in taiwan, they just are sold under different brand names.

And have you ever smelled them right after they come out of the box? They make the whole room smell like crap...they are sewn with hemp thread in taiwan, like all APC...in taiwan.

Yeah I learned that APC is a crap brand as well. I have the same tail lights on my car, I dont have a fogging problem, but the red ovals have come loose. and are up against the outer clear part, and witht he heat from the bulb, it's melting the clear plastic. Nice Product. Didnt start until I put my system in though. I wont buy anything APC again. Only thing I ever bought from them that was worth the money I got online on ebay for 30$ was the euro dash. Only thing thats lasted and still looks good.

It's all good, as emerge said, just consider it leson learned...not all products are created eqaul. Just be glad you learned APC was crap on tailights and not something like seats, springs, a body kit, or an intake.

I took funkins advice but i drilled holes in the clear corners. that damn light has been fogged up for months but hey it worked. I guess the water just needs a place to drain.

When you drilled the hole, the water vapor was able to escape quicker is all. You could have removed the corner (like you did to drill it) let it sit in the house overnight, this will let the water vapors have a chance to escape, and it will unfog pretty quick. Then you simply get silcion sealent and seal them up. Simply put, by sealing them no water has a place to get it. If you seal them up correctly, they won't fog up either. It's generally a simpiler and smarter way to aliviate the fogging problem, which occurs becauswe the lights arn't sealed correct, so water gets in. Seal them up nice and this solves the problem.
