Unhappy Locks, horn, gages, bell, haywire on 2000 LX

Looking for answers to intermittent electrical problems. Dealer unable to solve.
With Windstar off, key out, and headlights off, the door chime occasionally bings when the door is opened. Other time, the horn sounds once when the power lock switch on the door is pressed. Another time, the key FOB unlock is pressed and the horn goes on and off. Another time, with the key out the gages (fuel, speed, rpm, temp) cycled between min and max a dozen times. The only way to get the gages to stop, or the horn to stop, is to put the key in and start the vehicle.
This is only the most recent few days of problems. Last week, with the vehicle off and the key out, the headlights came on and stayed on, and the radio continued to play even with the door open. The brake lights wouldn't work, and therefore it wouldn't pull out of park with the vehicle running. Of course, while these things do happen with regularity (off and on all month), they haven't happened with the vehicle in the dealer's shop. All modules check out okay.
I'm desperate for suggestions as to what is the real culprit.
