installing a digital clock

I just purchased a 98 corolla VE and would like to install a digital clock. How involved would it be to install a digital clock in the place where the CE and LE has theirs and mine is blank? Any feedback will be appreciated. I also would like to install manually controlled side mirrors (ones with a lever on the inside beside the mirrors) and later cruise control. Thanks.

I believe you might have a blank panel that pops out where the clock goes in.

Mirrors are simple, it's a matter of popping out that flat panel, mounting the mirror with 3 screws, then popping the panel in.

Cruise control is a little more involved, because you will need to take leads from the ECU to wire it properly. I suggest a Toyota shop manual for your car in order to properly read the wiring diagram in order to perform that upgrade.

thanks for your quick reply. is the after market digital clock self contained or does it have to be hooked up to the car battery? would installing it involve removing the dash....or just pop out blank piece of plastic and insert clock? thanks for your time on this. Sincerely, Lisaa

The clock is hooked up using the power and/or accessory leads behind the dash. You would need the wiring diagram to pinpoint the lead as well as the ground (negative).

Good luck...
