question about a leak inside blazer

hey guys, my dad has a 97 blazer 4 door, 4x4, and this is his problem.

He had a passenger side leak inside the cabin, we thought it was the rubber seal around the doors but it was not.
Anyways we took stuff appart and found where leak is comming from

Under the passenger side dash, where bunch of wires are, (have to remove the plastic panel) there is some sort of thing that attaches to firewall and it has a roundish container with a little tube going to it,
well the thing has this door, when u press it it opens up.
So when it rains water collects there and starts to leak through that door. When it was raining i pressed on the door and water just poured from there like crazy,

Just wondering if any one knows how to fix that,? (maybe some one had similar problem) maybe the drain is clogged or something? I would appreciate some insight on this, if some one knows about it please reply
thank you
Ilya

removing the dashboard is complicated process, not something I would suggest a novice attempt. I'm not sure what you're talking about as far as the device on the firewall. Can you remove it?

Re: question about a leak inside blazer

YES I BELEIVE U CAN REMOVE IT, but dash is in way, its on passenger side, if u remove lower plastic trim where wires are, you can see it, it goes into the firewall, and has this round reservoir looking thing with hose going to it
not sure what that is, but thats where its leaking from

Can it be removed from underhood? Can it be seen from underhood? I want to say that it may be part of the heating system but I'm not positive.

sounds like your talking about a vacuum actuator for the vent system.

if the water is getting in there, then the leak is further ahead of that, most likely in the cowl below the windshield.

if so, your most likely looking at removing the hood, and wiper arms to get the cowl covers off to get to where the air is drawn in from. once the cowl covers are off, be sure to check that any/all drain holes in the cowl area that drain to the engine side of the firewall arent stopped up.

without seeing it, thats the best i can offer.
