On my 93 F350 dullie the ABS light started coming on and then one of the rear brakes would start rubbing. It felt like I was driving with the emergency brakes applied. Several miles later that brake would be smoking. this happened a couple of months ago and I changed the shoes and springs. It stopped for awile but now has started up again. Usually I could drive for about 25 minutes before the ABS light would come on and usually I was almost at work or at home. If I shut off the engine for a short time it would reset and I could drive another 25 minutes. Now the ABS light comes on after 10 - 15 minutes and comes back on shortly after I restart the engine.
The brake is not releasing and I wonder what else it could be. The emergency brake system? The wheel cylenders? the brake lines? (they are solid lines in the rear) the ABS proportioning valve? The ABS rear sensor? Has anybody had any experience with this kind of problem and what advice could you give me?
thanks,
