'84 Volvo wagon

hello there, i had a (rather) random question to ask.

i've spent the last 9 months commuting past a house that's had a volvo station wagon for sale. i stopped, and learned that it's a 1984 5-speed with a 4-cyl in it. i don't remember the model number, but it was yellow. didn't have much rust, etc, and it had like 180k miles on it. the guy was asking a thousand, but i think he'd take 700 bucks for it. it hasn't been regularly driven for at least a year, but i think it's a good deal.

i'm looking at it as a decent parts-running vehicle (got a buddy who works on supras, i work on dodge and honda engines and all make/model chassis/interior electrical) so i need something rather roomy to throw engine bits/whatever in.

is it probably worth that? i know i'm not leaving much in the way of info, but i think it's worth spending a bit 'o' cash on.

well, that and the fact that we have a spare supra engine laying around that could possibly "fall" into the volvo engine bay

If it runs $1000 or less would be a steal.
The 240 wagons are great cars

okay, now have more info.

it's an '83 Volvo 240 DL wagon, with a 4 speed and pushbutton overdrive. 179k miles, and it DOES run, but it needs a front end alignment. it also hasn't been driven regularly for over a year. it's drivable right now. clutch feels fine, gears seat firmly, breaks are OK as far as i can tell, and all 5 gears worked fine (never got it fast enough for the overdrive, so i don't know)

click on the pictures for a larger view

so... worth a buy, for 750 bucks?

That's a deal and a half! I'd buy it. I had the same car but mine was automatic. They're dependable.
