paint problemsMX-Master 05-30-2004, 06:01 PM i really really want my mx-3 painted silver but then i thought about my engine bay its freakin green what should i do? i was thinking since im in the middle of my KL-ZE swap maybe like some how paint the engine bay with the engine out? if u have any opinions please give them bmwm3guy 05-30-2004, 09:00 PM spray can of silver from Canadian Tire should do just fine... After all, it doesnt require a super good job to look good. I would guess a coat of primer, 2 coats of paint and a few clears just to seal it a bit. firefly948 06-01-2004, 02:42 PM I would think that you would need more than just a basic paint job in the engine bay. All that heat and oil might eat up an ordinary paint job. lone_night_fox 06-01-2004, 05:57 PM ya... if you have alternate transportation available, just get the whole car striped down and repainted... it'll cost alot more but it'll look like it came from the factory that way, which is a big plus toward your value. MX-Master 06-01-2004, 06:27 PM yea me and my dad are prolly gonna trailler it to our garrage and set up there and since we already have sprayers it should all go good bmwm3guy 06-01-2004, 06:38 PM duh.. high-heat paint... its the same stuff you put on your brake calipers.. I took for granted u guys would guess that. firefly948 06-03-2004, 02:58 PM my calipers aren't painted! and the high-heat paint would count as more than just an ordinary paint job! It would definitely cost more. bmwm3guy 06-03-2004, 06:19 PM you can buy cans of it at our local Canadian Tire, or anywhere that sells paint.. its not that expensive at all... firefly948 06-04-2004, 02:44 PM It's pretty expensive down here. It's not like buying a normal can of paint. Plus, you can't just put two coats on it. I've heard that for it to be really effective you need to put like 5 or 6 coats. MX-Master 06-07-2004, 09:39 PM my dad gets big time discounts so cost wont be a prob i just want to make sure we do it right firefly948 06-08-2004, 02:37 PM That's the attitude! I wish I could say that cost doesn't matter. I get good hookups on some stuff, but on other things I have to pay for them, and I'm only making 7usd an hour! bmwm3guy 06-08-2004, 07:30 PM thats still not too bad, thats like 10$ an hour in CDN dollars... I make more than most of my incompetant MacDonalds-working friends and they make around 7CDN$ an hour (minimum wage) YOU CAN DO IT! :P you gotta set your mind on your goals... Although im starting to lose sight of mine. :( Everything broke on my car at once.. lol oh well, klze son anyways but it is still discouraging Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
