Favorite Chevelle?crash 01-11-2001, 04:39 PM So what is everyones favorite Chevelle? Year, engine, options? Personally I have been in love with '70 Chevelle's since I was a boy. I owned one when I was 20 but it was stolen about a year after I bought it. autofan 01-11-2001, 04:50 PM So you were never able to find out who stole it? How did it happen? :( crash 01-11-2001, 10:34 PM Never found the car or who did it. They must have pushed it or towed it, I had it rigged pretty good so it would not have been possible to drive it off. VentoGLX32 01-14-2001, 06:39 PM i had a 68 chevelle with a 396 it ran around high 13's i miss that car i tore it apart to make a hotrod then i ran out of $ and sold it ahh..to be a young stupid teen again :) LostBoyScout 01-14-2001, 10:30 PM ...and now you blow thousand after thousand on your Jetta.. ;) When I was a young stupid teen (about 2 years ago :D) I put all my money into stereo... when will teens ever learn.. Sounds like it was a sweet car, GLX32 LostBoyScout 01-14-2001, 10:35 PM ...btw, sorry to hear about that, crash! :( I know how it feels, I spent every penny I made when I was a kid for 2 years on a new mountain bike.. cost me 3 grand.. had it stolen a month and a half later out of the back of my dad's truck.. no insurance on it JungleJim 01-29-2001, 02:45 PM Gotta be 1970, as I am the owner of an SS396 and a Malibu JD@af 02-06-2001, 12:02 AM Sorry I don't know more about it than this, but the '71 (I think the SS) is my Chevelle of choice. There is a guy at the Bridgeport, CT. Dept of Public Works with a really nice black one. Hey I hear all of you guys. How about going from a smart spend-thrifty teen (I spent no money in high school) to a guy in his 20's who discovers materialism, speed, and can't stop throwing money into his Honda? Yeah, it's mean, its fast, it handles like a gem, and you know what? It's still useless with half a foot of snow outside!!! Steve 06-08-2001, 10:44 AM I think my favorite was the 67-68. I like the body style, clean. My first car was a 64 coupe. I bought it from my uncle for 125 bucks. Rebuit a 283 and replaced the six cylinder. Painted it gloss black and put on some chrome wheels, headers... It looked sharp. The 283 was a nice running engine, you could pull high RPM. I think if I had it to do again I would look for a 327, which produced more torque and HP. syntheticoilonline.com (http://www.syntheticoilonline.com) Lizard King 06-08-2001, 01:57 PM The Chevelle was a stunning car. I think they got progressively better, year by year. My favourites would be the 1970/71. I think they peaked in 1970 but I like the round tail lights of the 71. http://www.chevelles.com/feature/may2001.html http://www.chevelles.com/feature/sept98.html BurninRich 08-06-2001, 09:02 PM Hey! My all time favorite chevelle has to be the good old 1970 SS 454!!!!!! i got some pics so here. BurninRich 08-06-2001, 09:11 PM Heres another. hakka 08-07-2001, 12:32 AM '70 396 Baldwin Motion SS ronin8451 08-20-2001, 01:33 PM I've had two '68s and still own a '69 SS, I used to love the '70, but they have gotten way too popular. I just seem to love my '69 with a 625HP 427 ( COPO replacement "crate" motor installed by dealer, no longer stock though) . I built the motor myself along with the 'glide tranny (6000 rpm stall 8" convertor). So far it's gone 6.80@ 92mph in the eighth mile , pulling the front wheels about 3-4 inches off the ground at launch!!. My next favorite chevelle has to be the '66 SS, it's just a sweet looking ride! olds88 08-20-2001, 11:06 PM hmmm i liked the malibu over the chevelle i would have to say a 67 convertable fastrThanU 11-17-2001, 01:47 AM i've got a '67 mailbu 283 bored out 11:1 flat tops 327 al. intake edelbrock performer carb tricked out 305 heads big ass cam chromoly rings high vol oil pump K&N filters 380 Hp, 420ft/lbs muncie m-21 close ratio 4 spd. runs mid 11.67 @ 117 0-60 in 5 sec. flat out hauls. gotta love GM gotta love chevy gotta love chevelles Jacy 03-20-2002, 03:47 PM My Favorite would be mine. I have a 72 Malibu (the last of the cool Chevelles) with a 406 small block pushing right at 400 ponies followed up by a 400 turbo trany. SWEET!!!!!!!!! cougar4life 03-04-2003, 02:59 AM i would say a 65 malibu SS. well it will be after i get the money together to get mine fixed up. right now it sits on blocks at my grandpa's farm. it is a sad sight. i wish i had the money to invest into getting it restored to driveable condition. bullseye 05-01-2003, 07:23 PM what i though looked nice was the 71' SS but what do i no im just a stuped teen:) but i think that is going to be my 1st car tazz3 06-07-2003, 11:55 PM when i was 18 i had a 66 chevelle. that was a great car. so i guess thats my fav and the 1968 ss chevelle is also a fav i live about40 min from where Baldwin Motion use to be dmitri47 06-18-2003, 08:08 PM if i could get another one i'd get a '69 malibu and clone it like the yenkos, i know they'res no way i could get a real one. have a 66 Malibu HT, now running a 327, with a Edelbrock Torker and a Holley 600cfm 4150 havnt yet got to take it to the track, but its fast enough for me thinking about putting a edelbrock fuel injection kit on it when i get some dough heavyfooted66 07-24-2003, 03:45 AM I'm in the "stupid teenage" group right now and I'm currently rebuilding a '66 Chevelle SS that my dad gave me (which I'm greatful for). So I'd have to say either the '66 or... I've always liked the '70 SS 454. chevelle 07-28-2003, 01:48 PM My favorite is the 71 convertible because I own it. Next would be the 69 then the 67. Too many cloned 70's IMHO. maxmendez 08-07-2003, 11:55 AM Favorite chevelle = my 67 with a "real" motor. www.geocities.com/maxbattlebot/chevelle.html 95corsy 08-07-2003, 04:16 PM id say the 70 SS convertible with the LS6...only 16 of those were made i think zieg72 08-10-2003, 07:17 PM 1972 because it was the last good looking Chevelle before those safety bumpers were enforced on the car manufacturers, to withstand 5 mph crash in front in '73 and both front and rear in '74 This is my third '72 and I prefer it over all others. 2nd. choice would be the '66:smile: fastchevylover 08-18-2003, 01:40 PM well........i like the 70' but, my all time favorite would have to be the 1967 malibu SS. beautiful car. ________________________ 67 mailibu SS 74 camaro TorinoGT69 08-18-2003, 10:20 PM 1970 Chevelle LS-6 SS 454 Nova295 08-21-2003, 12:53 AM '70 396 Baldwin Motion SS hey hakka do you have any pics of a '70 baldwin motion chevelle? I have looked for some before but never found any of a '70. My favorite chevelle has to be a triple black '69, followed by a '72 SS454 ke65000 08-22-2003, 01:47 PM i like '67 chevelle, a person i know is rebuilding one, im in love whit that car sup3rsp0rt396 08-26-2003, 02:28 PM I'm new here, but really, I don't think you could go wrong with a 68-72 Chevelle. I have a 72 SS with a '68 vintage 396, so I'm partial to the 72... But I think the 68-69s have sleeker lines, on the other hand I like the single-headlight and round tail-lights of the 71-72. I'm saying 72. jfkheat 10-06-2003, 03:12 PM 65 SS396 would be my choice. 69 Yenko would be second choice. jfkheat 10-06-2003, 03:15 PM I think my favorite was the 67-68. I like the body style, clean. My first car was a 64 coupe. I bought it from my uncle for 125 bucks. Rebuit a 283 and replaced the six cylinder. Painted it gloss black and put on some chrome wheels, headers... It looked sharp. I think if I had it to do again I would look for a 327, which produced more torque and HP. syntheticoilonline.com (http://www.syntheticoilonline.com) 67 and 68 were totally different body styles. 66 and 67 were same style as were the 68 and 69. James m&m 10-09-2003, 07:14 PM never had one but my dad did and looking to buy one and rebuild it if anyone out there has it LawmanD 03-05-2006, 09:55 PM First new car I ever ordered was a 68 SS396-375hp 4 speed, with 4.10 gears. WOW!! I put Hookers, a Hurst, 4.56 gears and an L88 cam in it, and there was very little that could outrun it. Sure wish I had kept it. Best car I ever had. Best looking tool Deviltech 04-12-2006, 12:18 PM I would have to say the 66 I had one when I was in high school. 396 backed by a 4 speed. then I would go with the 70 I bought shortly after school with the 454. Wish I still had them both. Oh well the dumb things you do when you are young. richtazz 04-12-2006, 03:21 PM 70 SS LS-6 454 4 speed, Hands Down. The 66-67 were sharp, but who can argue the Brute Force of the LS6. Not to mention the 70-72 cars actually could stop and turn, unlike the earilier models with 4 wheel drum brakes. My 70 Malibu 300hp-350 was a sweet car, had power everything and rode/handled like a dream. I put a spanking on a Porsche in the mountains of West Virginia one time going to visit my uncle who lives in Virginia (before I-64 was completed and you had to go through a long stretch of twisty two lane). The Porsche driver about shit when a 70 Chevelle with Michigan plates showed him the way through the mountains. Johnwilliams 04-25-2006, 05:15 PM So many favorites. I swear I fall in love with every custom car I see. As far as the chevelle goes my favorite would have to be the 1965. Pre muscle headed madness but a staple for any custom car enthusiast (like myself) http://www.mydreamwheels.com/1965-chevelle.html (http://http://www.mydreamwheels.com/1965-chevelle.html) John custom cars (http://www.mydreamwheels.com) are supposed to have bigger engines than stereos, but maybe i'm old fashioned ilgoldstein 04-25-2006, 09:32 PM I like my '64. It's my wife's car actually, she's had it longer than she's had me. My dad a '64 as well, first new car he ever bought. NOVA71 04-26-2006, 10:39 AM As far as a stock car would go, It's gotta be the 70 SS with the LS6 454:worshippy . That has got to be the the baddest of the bad as far as muscle cars go. Now for something not quite so stock, I'd have to say the 70 Baldwin/Motion phase 3 Chevelle. They had to be one of the baddest Chevelles ever to hit the streets. I wish they would stuffed an LS6 in the 70 Nova as well:( PickyYoungster 05-11-2006, 02:01 AM http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1240/chevelle9oq.jpgI've been looking for this car for my brother for sometime now. It's kind of our dream car to get together and we could only find this one perfect pic on a deleted post from craigslist. Although I don't know as much as my brother about the car, as I wondering if you could give me a hand and tell me anything you know about this car [ year/custom parts/etc. ]. P.S. I've found other similar cars to this one but never the same one. Maybe it's just the angel, but I doubt it. Even just another pic of a car like this, or hearing it was custom [and how] would bring hope. Thank you. :frown: wickedblack 05-15-2006, 10:35 AM In my personal opinion I think that the 69-70 Chevelles are the best. My dad had one that was blaze orange with black stripes but he sold it to some J@CK@$$ WHO ROLLED IT WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH OF HAVING IT!!!!:banghead: But the 70 is about what radical really is! :grinyes: ronvb 05-17-2006, 09:06 PM I have owned a few Chevelles over the years:68 SS,72 Heavy Chevy,65 Malibu Conv, and my present keeper-- a 70 Malibu. I like several of the years 68-72 being my favorites. ronvb :2cents: Tony Silva 06-27-2011, 09:07 PM 68 convertible...with the top down, no boot covering the top...and the grill has to be ablolutely perfect...oh and Hakka gets the thumbs up for mentioning Baldwin Motion.
