advanced timingboosted k20 05-30-2004, 02:10 AM is it a good idea to advance the timing in my car? how much more HP does it really make? i know im gonna have to use 91 or higher octane fuel if i advance the timing. is it even worth it to advance it? Oldteg 05-30-2004, 12:24 PM can I ask you this? Why is your nickname boosted and you have a turbo timer and no turbo? If you had a turbo, you should have your timing bumped up already. To answer your question, it won't give you a whole lot of power but you will notice better throttle response. You will want to run atleast 91 ( you should be already if you are boosted.) boosted k20 05-30-2004, 12:37 PM you know how many times i get asked that question. I just choose that name because im in love with the RSX and hope to have one within 2 years and will plan on boost n it. and bout the turbo timer, i just got it for a really cheap price (20 bucks) and just installed it in my car. no harm in have n a turbo timer in a non turbo car right! so it wont give me noticable power if i advance the timing. so i should scratch that idea right? Oldteg 05-30-2004, 01:13 PM I wouldnt scrtach the idea. Its so easy to do, you may as well do it. I did it and like I said, I noticed a bit better throttle response. Every little bit helps in my opinion. boosted k20 05-31-2004, 12:44 PM so how do you advance the timing? you have to remove the distributor and turn the rotor a little bit right? how did u go about do n it? i dont wanna mess anything up and give it too much advance in timing.... detonation! Oldteg 05-31-2004, 08:57 PM Just make sure you have a light. 1. loosen up all the distributor bolts with a 12 mm wrench. dont take them out. 2. turn the distributor towards the firewall untill you get to about 3 degrees 3. tighten it back up and your done. I wouldnt go anymore than 3 degrees. It's very easy. sameintheend01 06-01-2004, 01:25 AM uhh, if u are boosted, u would retard your timing... Oldteg 06-01-2004, 10:28 AM my bad. I wasnt thinking. boosted k20 06-01-2004, 03:24 PM yea my name is "boosted k20" but im a N/A integra =) so get a timing light and turn it towards the firwall. i'll try it... i'll have one a my friends who owns a shop, make sure im doing everything right.... i dont want to put too much timing and blow my motor =/ vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
