G'day all
:flash:
I need some advice on what Wrx to buy i will be joining the army and when i finish my training i want to buy a Wrx now i don't know which one just the WRx which is$42,000 or the Sti witch is $55,000 but all i earn a year is $37 1/2
What can you do to each can you put a 6 speed gear box down the track if i want in to the Normal wrx and is the Sti the best ddune up one or can you do better with other stuff

Good to see what I'm guessing is another Aussie. Get a standard WRX and work the shit out of it. with an STi, onroad is around $60k. Onroad with a normal one is $45k. Spend the 15k in the following way-
Large Front Mount Intercooler
Garrett Ball Bearing Turbo
Turbo Back Exhaust
Custom written Unichip at about 19psi
You will murder STi's.

good thinking. i agree myself.
but i would go for the sti. more pricy but you get the sti name.
i would love to have a 6 speed with 8000rpm redline. also the bucket seats are a nice addition. and the spoiler and the aero kits are more decent than the wrx.
you should decide for yourself. there are many advantage and disadvantages for both the wrx and the sti

1000 Sti's? They are a regular production car now GTRsi, just like the standard wrx. I would say there have been more then a 1000 sold in Australia alone.

I've heard that you can modify a regular WRX equalivent to the STi and would cost less than to buy a STi.

You can easily modify a standard rex to match the times of an sti, something like 3000-4000 dollars on top of the standard wrx. But you would have to spend a bit more to get the handling and more on brakes to equal the sti in overall performance.

not true.
for $1k you can beat the sti's performance... www.vishnuperformance.com
and for $1798 you can out handle it... http://rallyperformance.com/Suspension.htm

if you're living on a budget it might make sense just to get the standard WRX and go from there. vishnu's stage zero kit (uppipe, pulleys, unichip) paired with a good turbo back exhaust should net around 50-60 hp and put you right up there with the STi on the power front. its a good deal for the price but i prefer to mix and match parts. you're lucky living in that region of the world you have companies like MRT Rally at your finger tips.

APC ain't bad?
I will personally crucify the person I see putting an APC part on a WRX!!
There is a reason they are under federal investigation you know....for producting unsafe parts, and that is aside from the fact the stuff they make is cheap and crappy!!
You wanna put APC stuff on something, put it on a Civic!!

your link doesn't point to anything, but I really doubt that little money is gonna have you out handle an STi. Honestly it would be REAL HARD to get the total STi package out of a regular WRX without spending more than an STi costs.
