Smoke on startup

Anyone know of any good oil additives that help prevent smoking on startup? Its more annoying than anything to fire the truck up and have a cloud of smoke behind me. Any help is appreciated.

Is it temporary, meaning does it go away in about 10-15 secs. you have worn valve seals if it does, try a thicker oil, 10w30 to 10w40 or 15w40, Lucas Oil additive is good.

TRY CD-2 STOP SMOKE! I used it in my 1990 Dodge Ram 250 Van (works!)

Yeah it just puffs out smoke for about 10sec or so. I currently use 10w30 oil. I guess going to a little thicker oil and adding an additive might just help it out. Thanks for the reply
