Question Carb swap question on '85 2.8 V6

I've got an '85 S-10 2.8 V6 with 186,000 miles. It's been in the family since it was new and we've done nothing but the basic oil, plugs, tires, and brakes. Been a great truck but it won't start and the mechanic tells me I need to have the carb rebuilt for $350.

The current carb is #17085380 and I found carb #17084362 on Ebay from an '84 S-15 Jimmy with a 2.8 V6. Will it work on my '85 truck?

Thanks for any help you could send my way.
Phil

That is a crazy price for a rebuild. Call around. Then call a parts store and look for a rebuild kit. They come with instructions.

There is a carb rebuild guy on Ebay if you look hard enough. You send him your carb and he rebuilds and sends back for decent price.
