2000 Silverado Ext Cab 4wd Z71, 72,000 miles. 4 wheel disk brakes as you well know. I had the rear brake pads replaced and the rotors turned. My concern is that the inner pad on both sides was almost worn away, while the outer was almost all there. Could this be the slides sticking or something else? Additionally, the front pads look almost like new despite the 72k miles, is that normal? I did have the ABS modulator replaced around 15k miles due to the ABS turning on randomly while stopping, but that is it other than the rear brake work.

this is normal for your vehicle, everyone i have done looked the same, and yes the sliders tend to stick, don't ask me y i don't design im i just fix im.

Slider's on the 99 and on Silverados are a problem!

If they are allowed to go unchecked, your looking at possibly replacing rotors.

When the Brakes wear down will this casue a bouncing in the back end when stopping for 50mph and over. what happens when I am trying to slow down in my 2000 1500 ext cab Silverado is the back end feels like it is on a wash board. slower speed stopping is not a problem. Should I be changing these? out side Pad looks fine.

Edj0527, Your rear Rotors are probably warped or need to be turned, Its not that your truck is bouncing but its a pulsing feeling, the pads aren't making contact on a smooth rotor giving you that bump feeling. you notice this at higher speeds because your rear brakes have to work harder to stop your truck. Ive always been under the assumption that your front brakes take more of a beating than the rear.
