Red face Fuel Pump Connected to brakes!?

Whenever the fuel pump is on the brake lights are on bright as if the pedal were being pushed and when the brake pedal is depressed the lights dim & fuel pump is cut off and the engine stalls immediately. 1997 2.2L. Any suggestions or ideas?

kinda sounds like some of the dash wiring might be pinched up in the brake pedal somehow.

drop the lower dash hush panel and look for any wiring thats pinched up, beyond that i cant think of anything else.

Did you ever figure this problem out?

I had a 91 Blazer and when I shut the door the front and rear dome lights came on but when I opened the door the courtesy lights under dash would come on and the two dome lights would go dim or go out.

I would say trace the fuel pump wire.
