Just make sure you take pictures or mark where everything is if you are going to swap engines(meaning an high mileage ka24de to a low mileage ka24de) so it makes it easier to install. Good luck Towlie 05-21-2004, 10:18 PM where are you located? Good luck good idea, i always forget to do that and mean to im in orlando fl smokeurass 05-21-2004, 10:25 PM why is it like 170mb for the manual? wtf? Towlie 05-21-2004, 10:29 PM why is it like 170mb for the manual? wtf? its big and prolly in some weird formant, and stuff but yea its fucking huge lol vsiev 05-21-2004, 10:50 PM it is for the 93-98 fsm....it is in pdf format...who cares it is free.... Towlie 05-21-2004, 11:13 PM would the easiest way to do this swap be to remove engine A the one with the good motor, with tranny, than remove tranny, remove engine B the bad motor, with tranny, take off engine b tranny, connect B tranny to A engine, than insert in body B? or leave tranny B on the driveshaft? vsiev 05-21-2004, 11:22 PM is tranny b better than tranny a? is there a problem with any of the tranny? you are going to have to rent an engine hoist and maybe a stand for the engine cause it isn't good just to leave it on the oil pan.... SHO411 05-22-2004, 12:22 AM Well if you were in Ga I would have done it for you for around $400, or volunteered to help, but to give you advice, I had to drop my Small block chevy out of my T-Ram, and damn it was hard and it was also cold, did it in winter. Jack the car up, drain all the fluids, put it on jack stands, get an engine hoist (I had bought one since I figured I would like to open a shop one day and my 240 project also. Costed me like $200 for a goodyear one, but it is prety). Mount the engine secuerly to the hoist, and then unbolt the Kmemeber, there should be 4 bolts, also disconect parts that can't flek like brake and A/C line trust me, this is a big short cut. (Why am I even giving you my trade secrets???? .....well you own a 240 so we buds none the less just cuz of the car, but keep this between us okay shhhhhh.....) Any ways, sorry I am drunk, but back to the project, disconect the harnesses and wiring, get sticky tabs if this is your first time, anywhere you unplug, make a distinctive # and a corresponding one on the counter part. After all is disconnected (plus tranny), just lower it to the ground. Put a metal sheet or something that can slide, put it under the motor, and set it down on that. Now jack the car higher since you don't have a shop lift, You are going to need no less that 4 jackstands, and two will have to be the big ones, put them on the front. Jack the car higher and higher till you can slide the motor out. Do the same to the other car, then reposition the engines under the car, drop the cars, and reverse your removal procedures. Now honestly, It may seem just tedious but let me warn you, it is not something you will do in one day unless you are skilled. It took me a month to finish the repairs on my T-ram, most delays were cuz of money (can't seem to find a job, may be cuz I drink too fucking much and too young), and took us around 6hrs to put in a 350 into my boys car cuz there were three of us. #s help, kiss up to your budys, or do what we do, whoevers car we are working on buys the beer (also impresses the neighbourhood chicken heads). But it was not an easy job. Infact I who loves cars more than women needs constant reassurance from my brother that once my 240 project is done it will be well worth the effort .(my friend is pissed off cuz he wants me to put a 350 in my 240, he loves those blocks, he offered to put one in my brothers 750 bimmer). It is no easy thing, trust me, call up your friends you gonna need them. Good Luck. PM me if you need any help, not ASE certified but I am treeshade wooohoooooooo.......................Damn I am wasted. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
