99 Grand Am Quad 4 Progressive Grinding When Wheels Are Straight ONLY???

Hello everyone. I am new here and I have a real confusing problem. When my wheels are straight only there is a grinding noise in the front toward the center of the car like someone is dragging a dowel rod down an old fashoined washing board or something is hitting the vents in the rotor. The noise progresses and digresses with accel and braking. Through bends it is silent. The steering seems tight and the brakes and rotors are new and the backing plates are not rubbing. It was making the noise before the brakes and rotors were replaced. I have no idea what it can be. If you have any ideas or need more info please feel free to email me at poopieface78@comcast.net

Thank You Very Much !
