safc II vs dsmlinkNstyle29 05-19-2004, 01:03 PM All right i have been looking at both of these and trying to figure out which one i need best for my needs. I am a non racer, the only time i do is when someone pulls up next to me thats bout it. Would it be smarter to go with the safc II and use the money i save there to put it towards fuel mods and then turbo? Or go with the dsmlink learn how to use it and then go with the fuel mods and turbo? Just give me ur a opinion LandoAWD 05-19-2004, 01:19 PM I would base this choice on your FINAL goals for the car. The DSMLink is much more in-depth than a piggyback AFC. On the other hand, if your goals are minimal (i.e. 13s, comfy daily driver), the AFC would be a bit less hurtful on your piggy-bank, and offer some decent 'tunability'. (did I just make up a word?) EclipseRST 05-19-2004, 06:47 PM :werd: i totally agree... if i were you i'd just get the S-AFC II and you'll be fine, although if you ever want to go faster and race then i would go with DSMlink! BoostedSpyder 05-19-2004, 06:51 PM and by the time you are ready to venture in the 12's you will have enough knowledge to upgrade and make educated decisions Nstyle29 05-19-2004, 06:53 PM all right so safc it is...don't plan on usin this car for much racing, just want it to be there when i want it. Now to find a cheap one! Thanks for the help, nice email boostedspyder (dirty sanchez) spyderturbo007 05-20-2004, 08:41 AM I am pondering the same question as Nstyle.....But if you go with the SAFC-II don't you also have to have a logger? If you only had the SAFC-II can you tune "properly" without a logger. scottsee 05-20-2004, 11:30 AM buy the time you figure out how to install an safc, of have it installed for you (EXPENSIVE) you'll wish you spent 250-300 more for dsmlink.. Nstyle29 05-20-2004, 12:31 PM I am not sure if you have to have a pocketlogger or not, anyone? I dunno yet, i have talked to some guys who found it quite easy to install and tune with...guess i will check around some more yet before i make a final decision. LandoAWD 05-20-2004, 12:49 PM EVERYONE needs a way to log. scottsee 05-20-2004, 12:54 PM unless you can strap your car onto a dyno any time you want, you'll need a way to collect data, so you can properly tune your car to its higest effecency. everything else is just gusstimating.. JoeWagon 05-20-2004, 02:08 PM Yes, it's pocketlogger + SAFC vs. DSMlink. dsmlink is a logger and tuning tool. Nstyle29 05-20-2004, 02:10 PM i have heard that with dsmlink you need some serious dyno time to get it all tuned correctly is that right? scottsee 05-20-2004, 02:18 PM nope. dyno's is just a tunning tool that reads accurete whp. its a tad bit more suffisticated than dsmlink, but you can get the same results with a little more patience and time doing runs at the drag, or late at night on the Freeway. BoostedSpyder 05-20-2004, 02:55 PM oh ya i wasn't thinking about needing a logger. sorry about that... Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
