what is the difference between the two??? I can't find that info anywhere. I am currently looking at a 2004 kings ranch f-250 with a six and three quarter inche bed. It also has the FX4 package
Another question I have is this... Will there be a problem pulling a goose neck trailor with only a 6 and 3/4 inch bed
Duallie or single wheel?? Your imput would be much appreciated.
Um just a question why are you pluuling a gooseneck trialer if you don't know jack about the truck you intend to use to pull it?
It's not a big deal about the 6 and 3/4 inch bed it's a short bed truck that simple, basic truck knowloedge is 150 or 1500 is a 1/2 ton, 250 or 2500 is a 3/4 ton, and in most cases 350 0r 3500 is going to be a ton. on the whole single or dually question consider what you are going to be pullling or hauling. if it's just for like a horse trailer a F250 should be fine most of the farmers around here just have a basic 3/4 ton truck. Hope that helps
The only real difference between the HD F-250 and F-350 is the vehicle's GVW capacity, the F-350 is higher of course. This includes the fact that DRW is a F-350 option. You would ONLY need DRW if your bed loading is much over 2000# (tongue weight), and you can easily get by with heavier for short durations.
I believe some differences are an extra set of leaf springs, different shocks. Possibly differential change as well, not sure. The 250's and 350's both come with options of the 5.4, v-10, and 6.0L PSD. Although the 5.4 is a waste in a 350. I know, my friend has one. The F-250 SuperDuty is the number one selling SuperDuty where I work(Ford dealership). There good all around, no major problems except for head gaskets on the 5.4s, but I think they updated them already. I'd love to get one with a 6.0L myself but, well, they are a bit pricey.
Well, if you look at ford part numbers, the springs shocks and every are the same between the hd 250 and the 350, if they are both single rear wheel. If the f-350 is a dually, you will have a dana 80 rear axle instead of the sterling 10.25, and wider springs. The numbers are just hgiher on the 350. Same brakes, tranny, everything, just different emblem.

The difference between the two is heavier suspension on the F350 1 tonne then the F250 3/4 tonne, and a heavier chasis basically.
The move from 1 tonne to 3/4 tonne is about 2000 bucks for the heavier truck, which you'll appreciate as it does ride a bit better, and dimensionally is no bigger overall. Plus you can do more with it.
The move to a Dually is only necessary if the tongue weight of your trailer is too heavy for the single rear wheel application, and again is about a 2000 dollar option.
You can pull (REALISTICALLY when trailer and people and luggage is taken into account) 11,000lbs with the 3/4 tonne king ranch and 12,500lbs with the 1 tonne king ranch single rear wheel. Go to a dually in the 1 tonne and your towing goes to 12,000lbs because of the extra weight of the tires and bigger axle.
The maximum weight in the bed of a single rear wheel one tonne truck is roughly 1967lbs, the 3/4 tonne you lose about 410lbs. The dually can take 2680lbs of weight in the bed.
You cannot have dually in a 3/4 tonne, Ford doesn't make them.
The King Ranch is a beautifull truck, and you'll be very glad you selected it. The capacities and tow ratings i've given you here are for the 3/4 tonne and 1 tonne trucks with either the 6.0L Powerstroke Diesel engine and automatic transmission, or the 6.8L Triton V10 gasoline engine with automatic transmission.
Don't go with the manual tranny, it's no good for towing.
Buy the diesel application. The extra 4000 bucks over the gas engine is MORE then made up for the savings in the price and efficiency of gasoline VS diesel power.
I hope this answers all of your questions, any other questions and i'll be happy to answer them, just keep posting.
