Just Got 20's Now What??

Hey everone. I was wondering what i need in terms of suspension now that i have 20's (20x8.5). I have a 1997 S-10 Stepside. I'm guessing I'll need firmer springs, it's lowered 2" but im not sure it the springs would be firm enough with the big wheels.

Thanks

Yea, get your speedo adjusted. I'm not sure why you're asking others what you should do next. We are not you, and you are not us. As I tell everyone who asks this question do what you like. If you plan on customizing your truck pick up Mini-Truckin, Truckin', Sport Truck, Street Trucks Magazines and do some reading. Learn about the hobby and make decisions for yourself. You wont get any respect if someone asks you about your truck and you can't tell them anything about it.

its the overall tire diameter that determines if you need a speedo adjustment.

I know you are not me, thats impossible! I'm asking this question because I don't know if I should upgrade anything because of the bigger wheels! Also, do you really think I will know nothing about what I buy and install in my truck?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I was just asking for opinions and then I will make a decision on my own. Just asking for some friendly input.... I'm leaning about the hobby through this site, what do you think it's here for?-problems and questions! If everyone who asks a question is turned down by someone who can't give any information, then this site would be useless!

I have not installed the rims on my truck, and will not be installing them for a couple weeks (they are being shipped here, and are not in stock). I just wanted to know if there are any preparations that should be done.

Yeah, I'll definatly need to reprogram the speedo. And i will look into those magazines that you recommended, Thanks.

Ok man you confused me. Now I understand what you were asking. Well the first thing I would ask is if you want to go for air ride or static drop. With the 20's and a drop you'll definately have to do some trimming of the fender wells in the front and quite possibly in the back. If you want to lay it out evenly you'll have to cut the rear fenders out and space for the axle to move into when the air is let out.

The lowest static drop you could do is a 2/3 or maybe a 3/4 with very minor fender trimming. Anything more and the fenders are gonna have to go probably. When you mount the wheels do some measuring and see how much space you have in the front(check max turn left and right) and the rear. Hope this is a little help. By the way check your PM.

Before worrying about your speedo you will need tires first.
Once you determine your tire size you will know if you need to do any adjustment. If you can choose a 20" tire the same overall diameter as your stock 15" tires then your set.
I am sure you can roll with different wheels with no suspension change.
Ride with your new wheels and tires first to see if you like.
Then you can look around and ask questions. See what others did and get ideas.

If it was me I would get a 6" suspension lift and a set of 35" mickey thompson whees and tires.

to me 20's are to big on a s10 but to each there own. my buddy got 20's on his s10 with no drop and he said that even with no drop he needs to do some trimming cus he rubs when he makes to sharp of turns. but hey like i said. to each there own, any things better than stock!
