Hoping someone can help me...don't know alot about vehicles. Purchased a 2003 Venture and have had noise problems from day one. Started out with anytime you pushed on the accelerator or decelerated, there would be a high-pitched squealing sound coming from the floor board/engine area. Took it to a dealership, they were ridiculous and said I needed to replace the windshield, that the seal wasn't tight. But noise doesn't happen at cruising speed, just upon pressing the accelerator. Now, the noise happens constantly. Even sitting in the driveway, just turning on the car, you can hear the squealing sound without even pushing the accelerator.

Spoke to another Chevy Tech and he thought it was the mass airflow sensor in the intake manifold - said the new ones made noise when air came in. However, spoke to Chevrolet directly and they said they've never heard anything about it. My husband took out the sensors and the noise remained.

Can't figure it out...sounds like a vacumn hose is loose or a belt is sqealing..it's so loud now the radio doesn't even drown it out. Anyone have any clues as to what it could be or how to fix it?

I can't believe something that loud and constant can't be found. I'm assuming your out of warranty and have been the whole time, other wise you should have insisted on this getting fixed.
A vacuum leak doesn't sound right, there is very little vacuum when accelerating compared to decelerating, so the noise would definitely change pitch. A squealing belt should have been fixed by now.
A good ear should be all that is required to narrow down where the sound is coming from, especially if it drowns out the radio.

We are still under original warranty with only 22,500 miles. We have complained and insisted it be fixed, but they won't touch it. We even filed a complaint with Chevrolet, which did no good. Unfortunately, we've run out of ideas unless we want to drive to a dealership in another town. The dealership in our town is not helpful.

About the only thing I can tell you is to get ahold of someone at Chevrolet and tell them to either get it fixed or buy it back. Your dealer can tell you there is nothing they can do, but the district rep. may help. If not, ask to speak to his boss. If he won't help, go higher... and so on.
I have never heard of Chevrolet blowing someone off like that, at least not around here. We've been sent quite a few vehicles and were told to fix them no matter what.

Hi all,
We have the same problem with our Van; we've listened to if for fifty thousand miles, it is super annoying to say the least. You described the problem well. We took it to the dealer and was told all of these vans do this, it is not a problem it is a characteristic. DougJen, did you get yours resolved? Does anyone else know how to go about getting a resolution to this? Also now the thing has taken to nothing happening when the ignition key is turned to the start position everything looks and acts normal but the starter doesn't engage. Wait a while and it starts right up (so far). That's another thread I will be posting on today. Thanks in advance.
