Alright I went to change my headlight bulbs and Im not really sure what to take out and I dont want to break anything. I have a 2000 and theres a connector going into the middle and its surrounded by some kind of round boot with 2 tabs on it. I pulled the boot off a bit but it seemed to be moving everything around inside and I tried twisting the connector but it doesnt seem to wanna budge.

Dumb question but what exactly do I gotta do?

go to autozone they will install them free if you buy the bulbs there

Autozone doesnt exist in Canada and id like to know how to do this for myself anyways.

Can anyone else help?? Perhaps the 2 or 3 isuzu genius' that come around here??

alright, I just looked. There is a black rubber thing with wires that goes into a gray rubber thing.

At first I thought I could twist the gray thing off, nope. THen I dug my fingures in and around the black rubber thing and watch inside the light. I could see it start to move out, and I could feel that there was some sorta, spring reistance to it. So I stopped. But I think you need to pull the black rubber peice out of the gray peice.

But I'm not for sure, so wait a bit for more info from others.

Once I have the info I'll post it in the FAQ's.

pull of the wire connecter(white) turn the black ring 1/4 turn counterclockwise pull the bulb out by the back of the bulb

What white wire connector are we talking about?? Is this all behind the black rubber boot or whats the deal??

That boot is to keep dust and water out. Grab the boot by the tabs and work it off .

Unplug the connecter from the bulb under the boot. To remove the bulb there is a little wire clip thing; if I remember correctly you push it slide it off the hook and it will swing open freeing up the bulb. The bulb will just fall out at this point. Put your new bulb in and reverse the steps.

Just remember not to touch the glass on your new bulb or you will be repeating this all in a week or two. :uhoh:

Ryan, Get a tool to pull out the black ring (rubber) the when the rubber is off, you will see a silver spring, push the spring in and the light bulb will come out.

Headlights must have different mounting on the 98+Rodeo's.

On the '97 Rodeo all you have to do is gently pull off the white wire connector, can be a bit tricky specially with cold hands, then pull back the metal clip that holds the light in, then gently turn on the bulb itself and slips right out.

I can take some pics of what you have to do for your faq if you want. The passenger side is a bit of a pain because the battery is there.

Must be different for '00+ because the ones on my '99 are pretty easy. Been a while since I did mine but I seem to remmeber just unplugging the wires then twisting the bulb to get them out. I could be wrong though.

Theres a rubber gromet you have to pop out after unpluging the connector thats encased in rubber. Then it has this little level type bar that holds the headlight in place.

It must be cold up there - 2 pages on changing headlight bulbs in less than 24 hours!
