Check Engine light?guitarXgeek 05-04-2004, 05:45 PM Is there any way to turn the Check Engine light off? thanks ashah000 05-04-2004, 06:10 PM Take the neg terminal off the battery for a while. For a more permenent solution take the bulb out :D scottsee 05-04-2004, 06:14 PM yeah, goto the dealership. JoeWagon 05-04-2004, 07:30 PM Here's one... get your car fixed. Pulling out the bulbs is great, except you won't pass emissions because they check that method exactly. boostedinaz 05-04-2004, 07:56 PM why not just fix the problem. Thats like filling a flat tire everyday instead of just getting a new one. Michael guitarXgeek 05-04-2004, 08:03 PM Well nothing sounds/feels/looks wrong, so how do I know what to fix?! guitarXgeek 05-04-2004, 08:07 PM Oh yea, the check engine light has been on since I bought it from the dealership (about a year ago). ashah000 05-04-2004, 08:22 PM Goto autozone and they will check it for free.. What year and model car do you have JoeWagon 05-04-2004, 08:43 PM The check engine light isn't for good looks. It means there is a stored DTC that means something is wrong. CODE4 05-04-2004, 10:25 PM Well nothing sounds/feels/looks wrong, so how do I know what to fix?! How do you know what to fix? It is called a 'tool.' Scan tool, pocketlogger, etc. Something that is capable of communicating to the ECU. And if you bought it from a dealer, did you not test drive the vehicle and see that it was on? The dealer is most likely not going to do anything for you now free of charge, but if you brought it back in immediately they would have fixed it. :headshake BoostedSpyder 05-04-2004, 10:53 PM you have been driving around with a CEL for a year since you left the dealership? ohhh that's good... dude at least take it back to the dealership and get it checked for free, mabey they will feel sorry for you. [j/k, really...lol]. ya go to autozone and get the code read... guitarXgeek 05-04-2004, 11:40 PM Ok well apparently it has something to do with a rollover gasket..?? I'm being told it's supposed to shut off the fuel if the car rolls over. I'm also being told that the only problems it could cause is that in the unlikely event that I DO flip the car and a fire starts that I would most likely burn to death because the fuel would keep pumping.. no biggie =) 1stGenRocks 05-04-2004, 11:48 PM but u wont be able to tell if another problem happens cuz your lights already on gstclips 05-05-2004, 12:32 AM dude it probably a easy and chep fix, might as well be safe thn sorry, like someone else said how will you know if something else goes wrong...a good running car is something that you need before you start building on it...but if you want to burn alive thats your choice BoostedSpyder 05-05-2004, 02:07 PM not to mention when a chick sees it she will be like 'what a loser, his CEL is on' oh and it is the most annoying light on the dash on a lighter note i wonder if you can sue the dealership for selling you a car that will catch fire if it flips over. that has to be some kind of safty violation. i would call a lawyer, but i live in cali where people sue everybody for everything ;) Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
