97, 197000

I found a 197,000 miles its a 1997 JX green convertible. It was donated by a woman to a church she lived in upstate new york and drove the car on the highways to and from work and to NYC. She donated it because she was using it as tax wirte off, anywho the guy thats got it now works with the church and hes selling to make money for the churhc. The car has new battery, brakes, belts, and spark plugs. Windows all work fine and so does the top. I checked the car out today.. no leaks or anything starts and runs perfectly. If i had to compare it id compare it to a car with 75k miles. I drove it for about 10 minutes and had no problems. Im just scared to buy a used car.. can you guys give me any advice here?

Go to www.sebringclub.net. They have quite a bit of info there.

From what I have read, these cars are relatively trouble free, although they do have their weak spots like any car.

not junk

these cars are not junk. over time all cars have there problems, as long as there is upkeep on the car you should only have to fix and replace what wears out over time.

Re: 97, 197000

I have a 96 Sebring Convertible with stalling issues which haven't been corrected as of yet but I love the car. It has pep and runs so smooth and quiet(sometimes I wouldn't even know it has died except it is hard to steer). I bought mine with problems and would buy it again. I love the car. When I finally get it fixed I plan on driving it until it won't turn a tire anymore! Take a chance. Obviously with that high of mileage they are not asking an arm and a leg for it.

Red face Re: 97, 197000

Found out that it was the MAP sensor that was out. I have driven the car to Oklahoma and back with no problems with the stalling. Bypassed the wiper switch and got the windshield wipers to work. Still have intermittent readings on the mileage and rpm but think an instrument panel will correct that problem. I still love that car!
