engine swaps

Would a 2.3L swap into a '86 escort? I'm thinking of using parts from a Tempo/topaz.

I want to drop a 32v Northstar (Cadillac) engine into my 1990 Ford Escort GT. Cadillac Hotrod Fabricators has never heard of anyone doing this but said they thought it was a great idea...anybody have any info? thanks!

Re: engine swaps

vjcmv - gonna keep it front wheel drive??? doubt a V8 could fit in that little space and still have room for a transaxle

Re: engine swaps

Yeah, that's the point! Northstar is transverse mounted for front wheel drive. I just don't have a block to make the measurements

You would be taking a step backward's. The CVH is a more modern motor than that old push rod Temo 2.3 I4. It's more common for Tempo owners to want to swap to a Escort 1.9 HO and ditch the 2.3.

Easyest swap would be a 1.9 HO and swap over the Fuel injection, you can just swap the HO head to lower compresstion to make a better turbo motor.

Not the best idea. The Zetec fit's the 91+ Mazda/Escort chassie. Not the older Escort that actully are made by Ford. I have a buddy putting a Zetec in a First gen, custom mount's, axcels, wiring, fuel tank, dash, 6 month's later and lot of hard work and there's still work to be done before it drive's. If your gonna put in a Zetec in a First gen you might as well put in a 4g63t becaue it's just as much work.
