what do i do now?

ok...as my name states, i'm a dumb girl. actually, not dumb just lacking common sense. i drove my car through a flooded street and don't know what to do with it. it was towed to my house after sitting in door high water for about an hour. the lights come on, the windows work, but the car wont start...any suggestions? i am confused. i read on some mechanical website that water might have gotten into the oil or gas tank. i know water spewed out of the muffler when he hooked up the car to the tow....but its been 24 hours and still not starting. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

a friend of mine ran into a similar problem years ago with his cougar. I would start with the intake. It might have sucked in some water. Open the hood and remove the cover to the air filter, then remove the air filter and if that area is wet dry it out with a rag. Follow the tube that goes to the engine and make sure it is dry. In my friends case when we dried out that section the car started right up and he was able to drive it out of the large puddle where it had stalled. If that doesn't work I would check the engine bay to see if anything else is wet.
