Angry 2000 Venture Power Locks

I have a 2000 Venture with power door locks. Recently, the actuators on the front passenger doors have started cycling open and closed continuously, all by themselves. This occurs whether or not the vehicle is running, but does not happen if any of the doors or hatches are open. I have changed the batteries in both remotes. Any suggestions before i take it in to the dealer? Thanks.

Re: 2000 Venture Power Locks

My grandpa had the same issue with his 1996 Caddy. He took it to an electrical shop and they ran down what was causing it. It was something to do with the computer. It cost him $600, but most of that was just troubleshooting and labor fees. I believe the fix itself was not that much. He also tried new batteries in his remotes and looked at as much as he could, but could not find the problem. :o(

I had this kind of problem last week.

Ive been having problems with my passenger side window with it falling down by itself. So i left the panel off casue i got tired of taking it out and putting it back on when i had to lift the window back in place.

But what I found my problem was was i stuck the switches (pwr window switch and door lock switch) in the bottom of the door becasue they was to long to let hang there they got stuck in the door. And when the problem occured it was raining. Which me not thinking that water goes to the bottom of the door. And well shorted out the door lock switch which made it go crazy. I took the door lock switch out of the door and let it dry out. And now its not doing it.

You could have a short somewhere in the door lock wiring. I would either take it to the shop and have them check it out. Or follow the wiring from both switches to see if they are shorting out. I know if you have a problem with your AC leaking on your floor there the ground wire to the door locks run on on the passenger side under the carpet and those wires get messed up. Thats the first place I would check out.

Re: 2000 Venture Power Locks

I did chck all wires, and fixed the leaking A/C. The doors only cycle between 25-45 MPH. I am going to get rid of this headache this weekend lol.

Re: 2000 Venture Power Locks

I had the same problem -- rapidly cycling power door locks -- both times on the same stretch of I-95 in South Carolina a year apart. (I live 550 miles away and was passing through both times on trips to Florida). My problem was apparently caused by a one-in-a-million combination of radio signals. That sounds different from your problem, but I only mention it for the benefit of the board. Very wierd problem that I still have trouble believing.
