200,000 Miles, Timing Belt & Parking Break

I have a '95 Camry with 211,000 miles on it, it seems to run strong and looks pretty good, considering the age and mileage. The problem is that I do not know when the timing belt was last replaced.

My questions are:

Is the 2.2 liter 4 cyl. engine an intereference engine? (Do the valves contact the pistons if the timing belt breaks while driving?)

Is there any general or major maintenance that I should perform at this mileage?

Has anyone experienced a parking brak not working, when the cable is good, the rear breaks are fine, and everything is connected?

Thanks

No, the 2.2 L engine is not an interference engine.

Good infromation to know. Thanks you, now I won't worry about changing the timing belt as much as I was.

-The unfortunate situation of buying used cars is that I never know when the last maintenance of key items was performed.

Except for the very expensive items, assume that the maintenance wasn't done. For peace of mind, I would put a new timing belt and water pump in it as soon as you have some extra money.

I agree with Brian R. He knows his stuff. I too purchase used vechicals and always wonder about past history and care. I noticed in the area I live, that Toyota dealers place a sticker on the inside lip of front fender that says timing belt changed on this date at xxx,xxx miles. Very handy for anyone to see. I have also called the two nearest toyota dealers and provided the Vin # to see if they had any car history information. Again both dealers provided what work they had performed.
