Re: my 89 burb's back window

Is the 89 that same as an 87?
If so then you have a bad wire. I had the same problem.
I ended up cutting off the back of the Sub and made it into an Avalanche.

You can remove the back cover to the tailgate and hook up the wires to a battery or just lift it and use a piece of wood to hold it up. If you remove the motor to the window, read Chiltons on how to to move the motor so you DON"T remove your hand TOO.

I removed the motor and used a good battery to test.
If your motor is bad? I have one you can have for a small fee. I have a window too.

Re: my 89 burb's back window

for whatever reason the window desided to roll up and work on it's own. once i got it up i checked all the wires and stuff and now it works great....i think it has a mind of its own. thanks and yes the windows are the same on the 87 and 89 just the front end changed a bit with the headlights and grill, thanks again

suburban back window

I had the same problem with my 1990. The fix was almost too easy.On the passenger side of the tailgate there is a switch inside by the latch that prevents the window form opening with the tailgate down. What is going wrong is the striker pin for the latch is pushed in from use. I loosened the pin and adjusted it out all the way and it now pushes the latch in far enough to activate the switch. I hope this works for you. Good luck.

There is a switch inside the door at the latch. If the door isn't latched correctly, the switch will not allow the window to function. Have someone push on the left side of the door while you try to operate the window. If the window operates, then either adjust the door latch or simply bypass the switch by connecting the 2 wires together.
