Why campaign a car that isn't even in production? The R34 is old anyway, and even though using the VQ motor helped, the Z33 chassis is designed to use a VQ and can make better use of it.

Re: Skyline GT-R or Z
I agree the 2003 skyline was one of the most beautifull race car ever! But I must admit too that the 2004 Z is quite impressive, especially in Eric Comas' paint sheme... And it's more actual. That's the way it is... And I surely wouldn't like to come back!
I would be much more pleased if Toyota and Honda changed their old Supras and NSX...
I'm sure next years' 350Z will improve their look...

Re: Skyline GT-R or Z
I think the change is a good thing, while Nissan works out the kinks in their new platform, the other cars will be given a chance to break out from under Nissan's dominance, providing for a more competitive fied. But, then, not being able to follow the racing closely, my opinion is about as worth as a peanut shell.

Re: Skyline GT-R or Z
i agree with 1viadrft. The syline will come back with the R35. I think the Z33 is just a fill in until the Skyline makes its second big time comeback. Just think about it, the R32 GT-R gave us the RB26DETT, just imagine what the R35 will bring us. The big rumor now is that they are planning on twin turboing the V8 from the Q45. If allowed, it would kill supra's and nsx's

Re: Skyline GT-R or Z
eh.
you guys crack me up.
there is no more r series skyline (r32,33,34)
those were chassis designations, so say good bye to that idea.
there is no r35 in the works, it's already based on the 350z/g35 chassis, and will stay that way, with new body work...
the skyline is NOT that amazing that it can't be replaced, with a the 350z.
if they were going to keep skylines going, they'd have done it.
it's not the BEST car ever.
you guys need to get off that trip!
and mcdiddy...
your input is worth the same as the skyline you "own"...

Re: Skyline GT-R or Z
Dude you should really get your facts straight before posting anything. The Skyline was banned in the JGTC. Actually I believe the RB26DETT was banned so were actualy using a VQ30DETT 3.0L TT V6. So since the R34 was no longer in production they were just wasting advertising cause people could no longer buy them obviously. So they made a smart decision and just switched to the Fairlady Z so people can see it kicking ass and they go out and buy it. Basically the R34 last season was a Z with a Skyline body.

Re: Skyline GT-R or Z
No, it wasn't banned by any means, they switched to the VQ30 in the last R34 because the RB26 models of the previous two years were getting their asses handed to them by the Supras and NSX.

the older RB's didn't hvae such a great weight distribution compared to the VQ. also the last of hte GT-R GT500's hvae a major aerodynamic face lift giving them a much lower frontal profile making it similar to the NSX and supra's. however they had to switch over to the Z, and the Z is definitly more aerodynamic right off the bat. when they interviewed micheal krum which car he likes better, he still prefers the GTR but the Z is a very very fast.
also who ever said that its becasue they shoudln't campaign a car that is no longer in production is bull. look at the supra. how long have those things been in out of production for? if toyota was to use race their current top of hte line car, they would be creamed cause all they got now is the soarer. and hte celica is dead this year, even though taniguchi is driving the GT300 RWD celica.

Re: Skyline GT-R or Z
i really have to go with the who cares....its a nissan anyways. the only real diffrence between the cars is the body styling.they run the same engines. and for the most part theyre only about 20% of the original car if that much. notice the rule says you have to use portions of the original chasis...they both kick ass
